The dreaded ‘ploddiness’.
Yup, unfortunately this unattractive, amateurish, un-engaging way of singing is all too common.
Plod. Plod. Plod.
Chunk. Chunk. Chunk.
People sing the lyrics of their song like a string of sausages. A series of blobs.
Every syllable with equal weight. Every word landing heavily.
The beautiful tone of their voice in each word cut off too early - only to leave a split second, worthless empty space before the next sound begins.
It’s cruel to their listeners.
The singer sweeps their audience off their feet with the rich, expressive first word only to drop them at the end of it. And again, and again, and again. Sweep, drop, sweep, drop, sweep, drop.
It’s a real tragedy.
You can have the most gorgeous, delectable voice in the world, but if you neglect this ‘musicality’ element of singing, you’re not doing justice to your talents.
And you’re disappointing your audience.
But the good news is, it’s easy to remedy. And fun.
Check out this short video below, where I show you how.
It’s not a vocal technique.
It’s a simple imagery tool, which transforms the dreaded 'ploddy' singing into a captivating flow of song.
Have you ever wondered why your audience’s attention drifted off while you were singing? If so, you may have been ‘singing chunkily’ without realising it.
Check out the video below, where I demonstrate ploddy singing, and show you how to avoid it.
And how a song comes alive when you’ve made the switch.
