Hi there my friend,
I’m inviting you to join me (in your imagination) for a nice cup of tea at the wooden table in my cosy kitchen, looking out over the village green outside my house, on a rainy Winter day in Devon, England.
Comfortable? Yay. Then let’s have a chat.
I just want to share something with you that’s simple but profoundly powerful.
I encourage to go deep into your psyche and really, truly, give yourself permission to be heard.
What I’ve found out, through working with hundreds of singers over the past 10 years, is that this is a core step – (sips hot tea)
in the process of uncovering the confidence and freedom of your voice, and having the courage to sing in public. Or perform with zest and zing.
For many, there’s some voice inside our heads that’s telling us to avoid being heard. To not speak up or sing up. To not express ourselves. To not give voice to our truth and our authentic self.
So it holds us back.
What about you?
Maybe you’re too nervous to sing with friends.
Maybe you sing in a choir but you don’t find the full strength of your voice.
Maybe you sing on stage but you get really wobbled out about it.
Maybe you yearn to sing in public but you keeping putting off opportunities.
Whatever the scenario is for you, go deep in and work with that affirmation. It’s incredibly healing and empowering. We don’t realise until we try it out, how much we may be needing it.
So give yourself permission to be heard.
Give yourself permission to make sound.
Give yourself permission to express yourself.
You deserve to be heard.
You are a beautiful human being, equally as valuable as any other.
You have gifts to share that will fulfill you, and benefit others.
And it starts with believing in yourself, and your right to be heard.
My student Petra had been having singing lessons with me for 2 years when we started working with this. Just by giving herself permission to be heard, she realised she was able to release a massive amount of inhibition in her singing. And suddenly her singing took off with a whole new level of power!
So try it out. I hope it’s helpful and nourishing for you.
(slurps down last drop of tea)
Thanks for coming round! Feel free to warm yourself against the woodburning range for a while before you go!
Love, Selena x
